Prof. Dr. Eng. Silviu BUTNARIU holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 2004. He is an expert evaluator for national funded projects (UEFISCDI), reviewer of several WoS journals, member of AGIR (General Association of Engineers in Romania), ARoTMM (Romanian Association of Machines and Mechanisms Theory), and SIAR (Society of Automotive Engineers of Romania).
Its domains of expertise are robotics, parametric mechanical design, scan techniques, and 3D reconstruction, motion tracking systems, project management, product development, finite element analysis, machine elements, mechatronics, virtual manufacturing, virtual testing, and virtual design.
He was involved in the research teams of several national and international projects, currently leading the following projects: EXORAS – New Haptic Exoskeleton-like system for robotics and automation in Space –2012-2015 – funded by Romanian Space Agency – partner responsible; CHANCE – Robotic assisted brachytherapy, an innovative approach in the treatment of inoperable cancer – 2012-2016 – National funded project – partner responsible; SPINE – System for diagnostics and therapy of diseases of the spine – 2014 – 2016 – National funded project – director.
